And we wonder why the expenses far outweigh any measly savings we may have. If we seriously took a look at all the things that you and I consider the Necessities, and not only how much they cost but the cost and the Labor and the environmental damage that goes into making these Necessities that we slave day in and day out over. Ok I get that these things being made supply millions of people with jobs, but when these products end up in landfills and the environmental damage caused by the rotting garbage and the impact of exhaust and other commercial pollution, we rather soon may not have a planet to inhabit let alone have billions of dollars worth of junk to buy and quickly discard.
Ok so I ran off on another tangent because my point wasn't about the larger mass obsession with creating thousands of millions of pounds of waste and unnecessary packaging each year. It was really more about the things in my life that I have always thought or was taught to think were neccessities. As I unpack boxes of things that have been sitting in a storage unit for 12months (which of course cost us 50$/month).., it is Literally ALL trash. What was so important in all these boxes that I wasted 600$ to put in a 5x10 even bigger metal box for a year only to find that I'm throwing 95%of it away.
Sorry lots of numbers and boxes, but my point is, I don't nor have I needed any of the shit in these boxes but why have I held on to them for so long? What was so important? So NECCESARY?
Needless to say, I'm not sure what the reason was, but I do know this... not anymore, not ever again. If I haven't used it in 6months or even remembered that I had it, why keep it? Why clutter my life any more than it has to be? From now on, everything has a place and it stays there. No more boxes full of crap I have no use for, no more keeping things because maybe I'll use them one day but have no real intent to. Cut the emotional ties with piles of junk and live clean, live minimal, live happy.
I'm determined this year to make it the best and greenest one I've yet to have. My "neccessities" went from highheels and makeup (not that those even really qualify as neccesities) to feedings, diapers and insurance (which is a whole nother post ill get to later).
I have this beautiful new house, a beautiful new family and a blank canvas to create our future upon. Now-to do it the best I can!
